Old Friends Meet Again

It never crossed my mind that we would meet again.

Robert Ventayen was an old friend. We first met in the early 90′s when I was a youth leader in my father’s church and he was an associate minister in Lingayen, Pangasinan. They were new to the Message then, but his dynamic style and friendly spirit made him a popular guest speaker in our fellowships.

In July of this year I received an invitation from him in a ministerial meeting in his church in Mabini, Pangasinan. I was delighted, naturally, because we’ve never had a conversation in ages. He was also very excited in out meeting. I extended an invitation for him to visit my church and he promptly said yes.

He preached for me and my people on September 20 when he finally allowed himself a weeklong vacation and visit in Cavite and Laguna. He came with his wife, sis. Lanie. Amazingly, he still has the same dynamics and friendliness I’ve come to appreciate in him.

With so many breakups and divisions going on among churches and ministers today, I am glad to find old friends with I can share the same goals and burdens in the kingdom. I believe this is going to be a new beginning in our cooperative efforts to work together for God’s greater glory.
