The Year of Release
| Synopsis: | The law of God concerning the year of release is more than just a practical necessity in the Israelite nation. It was God’s expression of His love and care for the poor among His people. He laid out a seven-year plan in which the poor borrowers may go free from his or her debts at the end of every seven years.
But God was not only looking for the financially poor. He was looking forward to the poor in spirit who will need His saving grace. Thus the year of release is a foreshadow of the great “acceptable year of the Lord” when He will offers salvation and Eternal Life to whosoever will! |
